Bring it On!

LOST: Ji Yeon

We find Sun is off the island … pregnant.

Back on the island, Sun and Jin are planning to go to Locke’s camp. Juliet doesn’t want them to go or Sun will die (as all pregnant women have on the island). They insist on going and Juliet says, “Sun had an affair!” Jin gets mad at Sun, goes off fishing with Bernie.

Desmond and Sayid are still on the boat. They receive a note through the sick-bay door that says, “DON’T TRUST THE CAPTAIN!” They are then taken to see the captain where they ask questions and get answers. After their meeting, the doctor takes them to their new room. As they open the door, cockroaches scatter everywhere and there is a large bloodstain on the wall. The doctor yells down to the janitor (Johnson) to come clean this up. As Johnson appears from the shadows, we see this is actually Michael - now known as Kevin Johnson.

Sun goes into labor and has her baby while calling out for Jin to be with her. Soon after we see her give birth, Hurley shows up with Sun. Sun says, “thanks for coming all this way.” Hurley asks if anyone else is coming. Sun says no. We then see Sun and Hurley in a cemetery where Sun starts crying and we find out that they are at Jin’s gravestone. She says she misses him, she named her girl Ji Yeon, etc.

What we find out on the gravestone is … Jin’s date of death is 9-22-04 … a.k.a. the date of the crash.

End episode.

So, the big reveal is that Sun makes it off the island as one of the Oceanic 6, and the rest of the world thinks Jin died in the plane crash and does not make it off the island. We don’t know if Jin is dead on the island, but he’s definitely dead in the world.

Sad day in Valley history

It’s a sad day for the Missouri Valley Conference. Last night (Selection Sunday) we find the MVC shut-out of the at-large bids, receiving only the automatic bid for the conference tournament championship.

With Drake exploding the way they did this year, only Illinois State remained the only other real conference contender to make it to the big dance … but, a combination of committee members and other conference tournament upsets left Illinois State on the outside.

Watch for Drake to make a big splash in this tournament. They rolled through the regular season and the conference tournament … of course, the rest of the Valley was WAY, WAY, WAY down this year. Didn’t seem to have that dominant force as in recent past.

Let’s look to next year as teams re-tool. Some (as in Missouri State’s case) are moving on with a different head man. Some are building on their first season with a new coach. Some will see an overhaul of players as a large graduating class moves on to begin the next phase of their life/career.

… from MVC-Sports.com …
For the third time in the past four years, The Valley has half of its membership in post-season. Bradley (CBI), Creighton (NIT), Drake (NCAA), Illinois State (NIT), and Southern Illinois (NIT) represent the MVC. The five bids are the second-most in league history (trailing six post-season bids in 2006). The league also had five bids in 2005.

For the fifth-straight year, eighth time in the past 10 years, and the 14th time in the league’s history, The Valley has at least four postseason bids. In 2006, the league set records with four NCAA tourney teams, and six post-season bids.

Bradley was invited to the 1st NIT (1938), 1st NCAA Tournament (1939), 1st National Campus Tournament (1951), 1st Commissioner’s Cup Classic (1974), and now the 1st College Basketball Invitational (2008). Bradley turned down the 1939 NCAA bid in favor of the NIT. Drake won the Commissioner’s Cup in 1975, in what was the final year of that tourney.

LOST :: The Other Woman

Didn’t really learn a lot from this episode. Seemed to be more of a filler episode, but with the impending writers’ strike on the horizon in the fall, I’m not sure why they chose to write this the way they did.

Anyway, this one is centered around Juliet. Ends up showing her interaction during her first week on the island. Ben gives her a house, she’s meeting with a shrink and Tom is back with a snappy new mustache.

Back on the beach, Charlotte and Farraday are gone. Jack and crew go to find them. Shrink shows up in the jungle and tells Juliet that Ben wants her to stop Charlotte and Farraday at all means necessary.

Locke and Ben have a nice discussion and exchange. Ben tells Locke he can help him, and shows him a video of Charles Widmore roughing up some punk in an alley. Ben tells Locke “I’ll tell you my man on the boat” (w/ 20+ minutes left). They cut to commercial, and never revisit the subject.

Juliet finds Charlotte and Farraday in one of the stations called “The Tempest” where Farraday is frantically working on a computer. Charlotte and Juliet fight, and Farraday ends up shutting down the system that would end up spilling gases all over the island.

At the end of the show, we see Hurley and Sawyer playing horseshoes when all of a sudden Ben comes walking out of Locke’s house, be-bopping along with a fresh pair of sheets and clothes. Saywer asks, “what the hell are you doing?” Ben replies, “see you guys at dinner,” and goes into another house.

End.

There were some more details in this episode, but overall, it was pretty slow.

Have the Cardinals gone insane?

OK, let’s see, who’s on the roster for Spring Training …

OK, he makes sense.

Yep, him too.

Wait, what?!

Is that?

Juan Gonalez?!!?

What’s going on here?
