St. Louis and Brooklyn played the first game of their August 2, 1938 doubleheader at Ebbets Field with an experimental yellow baseball. Though the Dodgers won the game, 6-2, Cardinals’ first baseman Johnny Mize holds the distinction of having hit the first Major League home run with a yellow baseball.
