Cardinals owner Fred Saigh was prevented from staging what would have been the first-ever Sunday night baseball game on June 9, 1950 at Sportsman’s Park, in Major League history by Commissioner Happy Chandler. Major League baseball would not make its Sunday night debut until 1963.
