On September 21, 1934, in the first game of a doubleheader at Brooklyn’s Ebbets Field, Dizzy Dean threw a three-hitter against the Dodgers, allowing all three hits in the final two innings. In the nightcap, his brother Paul threw a no-hitter.
After the twin bill, Diz was quoted as saying:
If I’da know he was gonna throw one, I’da thrown one too.
