Cardinals™ Fact
Despite a mediocre 15-15 regular season mark in 1946, Cardinals left-handed screwballer Harry Breechen came alive by striking out a pair of Brooklyn Dodgers with the bases loaded in the ninth inning of the pennant-clinching playoff game on October 3. He then became the first lefty to win three games in a World Series by limiting the Red Sox to one earned run over 20 innings pitched.
