LOST :: The Economist

OOOOO, once again LOST makers have come out firing on all cylinders. “The Economist” is the third episode of and undeniable A+ season. This episode was Sayid-centric, showing him as one of the ones who gets off the island.
Theories abound vast and abundantly all over the LOST community.
Episode begins at the helicopter (carrying Dan, Miles, Frank and Charlotte) that has now landed on the island. Jack, Kate, Juliet, Sayid, Miles, Dan, Frank and dead Naomi are all at the helicopter. The newbies say they are not going anywhere in the helicopter without Charlotte (who is at the barracks with Locke’s crew). Sayid says he will go and bring her back, IF, they will fly him off the island to the freighter. They agree — Sayid, Miles and Kate trompse off into the jungle.
We are then taken to a scene of Sayid alone on a golf course, when a cart pulls up beside him. A man gets out, comments how Sayid has been the only one on the course all day and bets Sayid that he can hit his ball closer. Guy asks Sayid what he does for a living and Sayid mentions he is one of the Oceanic 6. Guy gets obviously nervous, then hits it closer. A short conversation takes place. Sayid calls guy by his name (not previously said). Guy says don’t worry about the bet, and tries to hurry into the cart. Sayid insists on paying him, reaches into his golf bag, pulls out a gun and shoots the guy.
We are then taken to Sayid in a coffehouse in Germany. Sayid meets a woman sitting alone and tries to speak German and ask directions. Woman speaks English and gives directions. Woman (Elsa) tells him she works for an economist who is rarely in town, asks Sayid what he does for a living. Sayid says, “I’ll tell you if you let me take you to dinner.” Sayid leaves and tells someone on a cell phone, “I’ve made contact.” Then, throws the phone away.
Back on the island … we see Dan working on some sort of experiment/contraption … calls the freighter and asks for them to “send the payload.” Regina (on boat) begins counting down - gets to zero - nothing on the island.
On to the barracks … crew shows up and finds Hurley tied up and locked in a closet. Hurley tells us they are all going to Ben’s house, and away they all go.
Back at the helicopter, Jack and Frank are talking when suddenly a missile-type thing comes crashing down to Dan’s contraption … and Dan is disturbed … there is a timer attached to the projectile which has a 31 minute time difference from the one on the island.
Sayid now has found a hidden room in Ben’s house. While in there, Sawyer and Locke sneak in and essentially kidnap Kate, Sayid and Miles. Kate is with Sawyer in Ben’s bedroom. Sayid is taken to the Others’ rec room/jail. Miles is somewhere else.
We are then taken back to the flashforward with Sayid and Elsa laying in bed. They talk. They kiss. Sayid says he will tell her some important information - then, her boss pages her. Sayid tells her she has to get out of the country b/c something bad is going to happen to her boss. She gets upset and psuedo-frantic, then shoots Sayid in the shoulder. She then returns to the bathroom and calls her boss on the phone saying Sayid didn’t tell her who he was, but she was going to bring him to the “safe house.” Sayid then throws himself off the bed, over to where his gun was sitting and as Elsa runs out, he shoots her multiple times. Sayid then notices a bracelet on her wrist that was a very similar design to the one that he found on Naomi in the beginning of the episode.
Back to the island — Sayid comes back to the helicopter with Charlotte. Frank, Sayid and Desmond get on the helicopter and take off to head to the freighter.
Back to the flashforward — Sayid is injured and we see him walk into what seems to be a veterinary hospital. An unseen man begins working to take the bullet out of Sayid’s shoulder, and talking to him. As they discuss what happened, the man tells Sayid he has a new name for him. Sayid says they know who he is now. Then we see who the man is … and it’s BEN!!! Who says, “Good.”
In the end … Ben and Sayid - working together off the island!
What is going on!?!?!?!?!?!?
